Okay so this is not the most attractive looking picture but it is one of inspiration, so I think. The downtown soccer league and baseball have often been interrupted due to rain. The reason being is the fields in Battery Park City were made with organic grass that is very delicate and the Hudson River Parks commitee prefers to maintain it as a top priority even at the expense of the downtown kids having many of their games postponed. So yesterday we had heavy rain come down around 3:30 and 4 softball teams were due to play at 5:30. Parents of these players went to the fields and raked the muddy grass to ensure the games would still be on. These are the feet of John Jiler who manages the minor league team the Dodgers. His team was not playing last night but he took off his shoes and got onto the field to prepare it for the other teams.Games commenced at 5:30.
